Job Description

Morton Grove Fire District Minimum Requirements:

• $25 non-refundable application fee (one $25 fee will grant you access to all three departments)
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• 21 to under 35 years of age by date of written exam (August 24, 2024), unless otherwise exempt by state statute
• S. Citizen, or person who has submitted proof of authorization to work in the U.S.
• Valid driver’s license
• Must have successfully completed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and Aerial Ladder Climb Exercise within a ONE YEAR PERIOD prior to the written examination
• Vision: 20/30 corrected, 20/100 uncorrected, able to identify/distinguish between red, green and yellow
• In order to complete the probationary period, candidates must have obtained Illinois State Basic Operations Firefighter Certification and Illinois EMT-Paramedic Certification.

Niles Fire Department Minimum Requirements:

• $25 non-refundable application fee (one $25 fee will grant you access to all three departments)
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Must be at least 20 years of age and less than 35 years of age at time of written exam, unless the individual falls under one of the exceptions to the statutory maximum hiring age detailed in 70 ILCS 705/16.06 or 65 ILCS 5/10-2.1-6. NOTE: Candidate must be 21 years of age at time of hire.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Valid driver’s license
• Must have successfully completed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and Aerial Ladder Climb Exercise by time of hire
• Vision correctable to 20/20 and free from color blindness
• Residency: required within six months after completing one-year probation – boundary limits: Employees shall maintain their primary residence within the geographical area fifty (50) miles from the Niles Administration Building and within the boarder of the State of Illinois

Wilmette Fire Department Minimum Requirements:

• $25 non-refundable application fee (one $25 fee will grant you access to all three departments). Hardship waiver available – contact IOS Recruitment for additional details
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) PLUS ONE of the following:
  • Sixty (60) hours of education from an accredited college or university
  • Two (2) years of military service
  • Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Firefighter II/Basic Operations Firefighter certification
  • Current State of Illinois or National Registry EMT – Paramedic license
• Must be 20 years old at the time of exam and 21 to under 35 years of age by date of hire, unless otherwise exempt by state statute
• United States citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States
• Valid driver’s license
• Must have successfully completed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and Aerial Ladder Climb Exercise within a ONE YEAR PERIOD prior to the time of hire
